“SUBJUGATE MYSELF”
Esona, Renz Rafael P. Esona
“It is not the mountain we conquer
but ourselves”- Edmund Hillary
Subjugating
oneself is the most difficult thing to bring in to practice; so many things to
distract , so many things which are more material which can be seen, which one
way grasp in the hand, which one may have to admire or adore, to take our minds
away from thinking our own development. But what is subjugating oneself? From
the root word “subjugate”; subjugate means to bring under control or conquer.
Your first
opponent is yourself. It could be your feelings, thoughts, attitudes, or emotions
which stops you and sabotage you. As Plato says, “The first and best victory is
to conquer self, to be conquered by self is of, all things, the most shameful
and objectionable/vile”. Before looking at ways to conquer yourself, consider
first, who or what is the “self”. In philosophical terms self is an intangible
entity that directs a person’s thoughts and actions.
In
conquering yourself, learn to say No!. It’ll help you to limit your self and
control your actions. Overcoming your fears helps a lot, too. Never let the
voice in your head control you and stop you from being productive person.
Always set your goals and do it step by step. Lastly, feed your mind and soul.
Always think about the things that motivate you.
To conquer
or subjugate one self is a process, always be ready to learn. You often learn
from your mistakes but you can also learn from your successes learn how to use
your strengths and weaknesses. And always do the right thing.
